We are so proud to see MPVR grow into what it has become. We are almost four times as large as we were this time last year. People are listening. What we are doing just makes sense!
One purpose of our new, shiney blog is to make it super easy for all of our supporters to step off the sidelines and make a real difference; a real impact toward what we are fighting for: the right to make medical decisions for our children without government interferance.
We need YOU making calls. Not even a lot of calls, but certainly a call to both your representative and your senator. Not sure who they are or how to contact them? You have come to the right place!
<----see that handy dandy column over there? (if you are on a mobile device you may not see it-please head to your computer, this is important!) That column is your arsenal to be the voice!
Under activist links this is what you will find:
•Find your legislators: click on this to input your address and bam it tells you who your legislators are. You are constituents for these people. That makes you very important to them...tell them you are their constituent when you speak with them!
•MPVR History: this explains what we were doing to pull MS out of the dark ages concerning vaccine law before we even became an organized group. Our matriarch, Mrs. Judy Brasher has fought this fight since before many of us knew there was a battle to be won. We are grateful to her for her tireless dedication to MPVR!
•House Bill 1420: links directly to our legislation authored by Represenative Angela Cockerham; legislators want to see our bill...offer to email a link to them. Thanks to the blog, you can so do that!
•House Roster: now that you know who your represenative is, you'll need to click this and find him/her on this list to get their contact information. See, we are spoon feeding you at this point ;) Don't forget to tell them you are their constituent!
•MPVR shop: We have tees and bumper stickers and onesies, oh my! seriously though...my bumper sticker has been a great convo starter for me. Bonus...they peel right off...no mess, promise!
•Petition: this is the link to our online petition, please add your name if you haven't already. legislators need to see just how important this is to MS families!
•Senate Bill 2789: links directly to our legislation authored by Senator Chris McDaniel; legislators want to see our bill...offer to email a link to them. Thanks to the blog, you can so do that!
•Senate Roster: now that you know who your senator is, you'll need to click this and find him/her on this list to get their contact information. See, we are spoon feeding you at this point ;) Don't forget to tell them you are their constituent!
•Talking Points: when you get ready to call, you don't even have to wonder what to say! please stick to the talking points...we just want options. Parents in 48 other states have them and I want them too!
Wow...see how simple!
A few pointers:
• take notes so you can share them with us in our group; we need to know where we stand with each legislator!
• call all the numbers the roster provides you with for your legislators. leave messages on each of the numbers you call. I know it's redundant and you feel like a pain, but these men and women are busy and distracted. if they see you are serious about contacting them, they are more likely to call back!
• remember they work for you. they signed up for this and they represent YOU. You are being a responsible citizen by asking them to support what is important to you. call with confidence; they want to hear from you!
We appreciate your passion and activism!
